Changing the food system in Brooklyn, neighborhood by neighborhood

To the folks of the Bed-Stuy Food Council,
Hi, I help run a community garden in Bedstuy, Brooklyn and after three years we began to notice a gap between the community aspect and the garden aspect--that is, despite the enthusiasm for having a community space, the idea of local sustainable food still felt far off (we come together around a lot more hotdogs and kool-aid than do we harvests from our own soil).
So we recently came up with a plan to host a fun, interactive event that might re-imbue food with meaning--without necessarily preaching any one philosophy--by simply emphasizing the stories behind our meals: the story of the ingredients themselves, those of our favorite recipes, and those that come about while creating each meal and, of course, enjoying them with our neighbors.
I was hoping to extend an invitation or at least get in touch with the people of the Bed-Stuy Food Council, as I'm sure there's a lot we can learn from you all.

Thanks,
Evan Wiig
